The Latest Florida Election Screw-Up

Sun-Sentinel

LePore said her staff is not keeping a tally of complaints about missing absentee ballots. Wendi Lipsich, district director for Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton, said the congressman's office has received "hundreds" of absentee ballot complaints.

LePore said absentee ballots have been temporarily misplaced in the past. "Usually we just call and ask [postal workers] to look around to make sure they don't have them sitting around."

McDaniel said he was sure that wasn't the case this year.

"There might be some pieces somewhere, but not hundreds," he said. "Somebody would have noticed it."

Marvin Mehlman and his wife ordered their ballots in August and are concerned they won't arrive on time.

"I say it's a hell of a mess," said Mehlman, 79, of Boca Raton. "I just hope that the fix is not in. When are you supposed to get an absentee ballot, a week after the election?"

I've heard of "the check is in the mail", but this is ridiculous.
