Comparing bush to Hitler...

...should be one of America's favorite pastimes. Bob Byrd just did it, and is taking shit from all sides. Byrd is upset about the republicans attempt to remove the right of democrats to filibuster. Republicans don't like what democrats want to filibuster, so they don't think it should be legal for democrats to filibuster.

Kinda like they way they outlawed free speech at their (republican only) bush rallies, and town hall meetings. You either kiss the kings ring, or security is gonna throw your ass out.

We've got a word for that... Fascism.

Wikipedia defines fascism as a government system that:

*exalts nation and sometimes race above the individual,
*uses violence and modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition,

*engages in severe economic and social regimentation.

*engages in corporatism,[1] (http://www.britannica.com/eb/article?tocId=219369)
*implements or is a totalitarian regime.

...and although they didn't bullet it, they do point out that "Fascism developed in opposition to socialism..."

So clearly an argument can be made that America has become a fascist state, and for most Americans, when you're talking about fascism, you're talking about Hitler.

What amazes me is that comparing a person to Hitler, has become a greater political crime than actually acting like Hitler.

bush acts like Hitler, and no one cares. Bob Byrd points it out, and people come out of the woodwork to chastise him.

...strange days indeed.
